The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Funaki shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Funaki was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Mishima regains half guard.

Mishima gets back to half guard.
Mishima has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Funaki is working away from the top position though.

Funaki wants to work for an arm triangle but Mishima is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Funaki wants to free his trapped foot but Mishima is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Funaki is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mishima defends it well.

Funaki drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mishima manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Funaki has Mishima in his guard.
