The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ram Dass shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Overeem as he jumps to the side.
Overeem feints a jab promting Ram Dass to slip. Overeem then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Ram Dass slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Overeem connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Ram Dass momentarily.
Ram Dass takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Overeem changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Nice body kick from Ram Dass.
Ram Dass misses with a left hand
and Overeem counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Overeem throws a head kick that misses.
Overeem looks to land a left hand but Ram Dass moved out of range nicely.
Ram Dass is looking to land body kicks.
Ram Dass throws a leg kick that is checked
and Overeem counters with a head kick. That will keep Ram Dass thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Ram Dass lands a nice leg kick that just misses Overeem's sensitive parts.
Overeem swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ram Dass throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Overeem misses with an uppercut.

and Overeem counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Overeem scores with a nice strike.
Ram Dass tries to close the distance and clinch up but Overeem swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Overeem misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Ram Dass lands a head kick. Overeem smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Ram Dass fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Overeem has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Overeem misses with a shot to the body
and Ram Dass counters with a good, hard body kick but Overeem shrugs it off.
Alistair Overeem seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ram Dass gets a takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Overeem trying to control from the bottom.
Overeem tries to roll over but Ram Dass keeps him under control.
Overeem keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Ram Dass thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Overeem's head.

Ram Dass is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Overeem sees it coming and defends easily.
Ram Dass is pressing down on Overeem's thigh, looking to free his foot. Overeem is holding on for now.

Ram Dass in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Overeem tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Ram Dass!
