PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Billy Lunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vincent Herrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Herrera has chosen Don Omar - Bandolero as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Billy Lunn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vincent Herrera!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Herrera.

Herrera shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lunn is trying to defend but Herrera finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Lunn moves into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lunn keeping moving, preventing Herrera from controlling successfully.
Lunn trying to keep a closed guard but Herrera is proving a slippery customer.
Herrera really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lunn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lunn is really struggling to control Herrera but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Herrera drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Herrera jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Herrera wants to control from the top but Lunn keeps moving.
Lunn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Herrera is one step ahead there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lunn is trying to keep Herrera in close.
Lunn wants to sweep but no luck.
Herrera is looking to work some ground and pound but Lunn has wrist control.
Lunn looking for a sweep. Not yet Lunn, not yet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lunn throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Lunn fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Herrera, pushing him back against the cage.
Lunn keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Herrera's efforts to push away.
Lunn lands a body punch in the clinch.
Stalling in the clinch from Herrera.
Herrera tries a knee to the head but Lunn blocks it.
Lunn tries to land knees in the clinch but Herrera avoids the damage to the body.

Herrera breaks the clinch.
Lunn with a lazy takedown attempt

and Herrera counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Lunn tries to get to full guard but Herrera has control of the leg.
Herrera working over Lunn with some ground and pound. Lunn looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Herrera sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lunn defending well though.
Lunn regains full guard. Nicely done.
Herrera looks gassed!

Lunn had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Herrera defends it easily.
Herrera trying to control the position from guard on top but Lunn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lunn lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Herrera!
Lunn tries to control but Herrera wriggling away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lunn with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Lunn wants to control the pace but Herrera is squirming around nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Herrera is trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lunn trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Herrera trying desperately to get to his feet.
Lunn misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Lunn sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Vincent Herrera will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


A combination from Lunn does no damage.

Herrera drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Lunn is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Herrera rolls with it to try and escape but Lunn cranks on the arm and Herrera is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Billy Lunn!
