PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bones Breaker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clark Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bones Breaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Clark Kent!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kent feints and as Breaker raises his hands in defense, Kent changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kent trying to control the position from guard on top but Breaker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Breaker is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kent defends well.
Breaker looking for a sweep. Not yet Breaker, not yet.
Kent pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Breaker is keeping the position for now.

Breaker is looking for a triangle but Kent pushes his legs off easily.
Kent passes Breaker's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Breaker has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kent is working away from the top position though.
Kent looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Breaker is refusing to be controlled, as Kent sits in half guard.

Breaker gets full guard.
Kent distracts Breaker with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Breaker has his foot on Kent's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kent works his way back into a safe position though.
Kent passes Breaker's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Kent wants to work for an arm triangle but Breaker is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Breaker is in trouble now - Kent has advanced to mount!
Breaker is working to get back to half guard.
Kent controlling his opponent.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kent putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Kent wants to finish this one by submission but Breaker is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kent.

Kent is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Breaker can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Breaker is trying to escape the mount.
Kent throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Kent has control of Breaker's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Breaker regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Breaker stops Kent from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Breaker is desperately trying to improve his position but Kent has a good base and remains in mount.
Kent content just to control the position here.
Kent is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Breaker can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Kent goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Breaker is on top in guard.
Breaker wants to pass the guard but Kent is keeping the position.

Kent is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Breaker drops back looking for a leg! Kent is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kent manages to kick Breaker off! Breaker jumps back into Kent's guard.
Breaker might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kent working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Breaker.
Kent looking to hit a scissor sweep but Breaker is one step ahead there.

Breaker drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kent dives on top into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clark Kent dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Breaker.

Kent shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Breaker manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Breaker had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kent defends it easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kent postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kent trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Breaker controls Kent momentarily but Kent frees himself.
Kent thows a big elbow that misses.

Kent got a little sloppy there for a moment and Breaker has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kent has managed to get both his arms back between Breaker's legs - danger averted.
Kent wants to control from the top but Breaker keeps moving.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kent might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Breaker kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Breaker is looking for a triangle but Kent pushes his legs off easily.
Breaker preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Kent sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Breaker's guard.

Kent is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Breaker doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kent.

Breaker working to try and regain half guard.

Kent is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Breaker has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Breaker!
Breaker loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Kent is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Breaker is aware though and is defending well.
Breaker wants to pass the guard but Kent is keeping the position.

Kent escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Breaker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Breaker wants to control from the top but Kent keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Breaker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Kent. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Clark Kent showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Breaker is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Breaker works his way to full guard. Good work.

Kent throws a strike but Breaker rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Breaker thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kent moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Breaker drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Breaker jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Breaker has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Breaker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kent looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kent looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kent!

Breaker is in trouble now - Kent has advanced to mount!
Kent prevents Breaker from getting the reversal.

Breaker tries to hold on but Kent pushes him away.
Kent wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Breaker is trying to escape the mount.
Kent cracks Breaker with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Breaker is wriggling around trying to escape.

Kent looking for a guillotine from mount but Breaker is having none of it.
Breaker is squirming around, avoiding Kent's attempts to control the action.

Kent is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Breaker to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Breaker shrugs it off.
Kent tries to control but Breaker wriggling away.
Kent lands a heavy elbow.
Kent wants to control the pace but Breaker is squirming around nicely.
Breaker looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Kent has the hooks in. Breaker is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Breaker is working hard here to advance position.
Well, with Kent on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Breaker is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Kent working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Clark Kent comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kent has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
