The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Downtime shoots in for a takedown but Laguna shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Laguna cracks Downtime with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Laguna misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Downtime.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Downtime.

Downtime decides to stand back up.
Laguna swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Downtime shoots for a double leg takedown but Laguna sprawls well. He's pushed Downtime's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Laguna stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

and Laguna counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Marty Laguna has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nycky Downtime.
Downtime swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Laguna makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Downtime drops his hands momentarily and Laguna takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Laguna lands a nice uppercut.
The referee is keeping an eye on Laguna - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Laguna lands a right hand.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Laguna takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Downtime tries to pull guard but Laguna holds him up against the cage and eventually Downtime drops back down to his feet.
Downtime changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Laguna fights it off and pushes away nicely.
