Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luke Bombay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pierre LaPointe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Luke Bombay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pierre LaPointe!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bombay circles away from the clinch attempt
and Bombay counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
LaPointe closes the distance looking to clinch
letting Bombay counter with a right hand.
LaPointe stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and LaPointe wants it to stay on the feet.
LaPointe shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bombay darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Bombay fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but LaPointe avoids it really well and circles away.
Bombay tries to clinch up but LaPointe circles away and keeps his distance.
LaPointe looks to clinch

and Bombay holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
LaPointe lands a damaging elbow.
LaPointe tries to pull guard but Bombay holds him up against the cage and eventually LaPointe drops back down to his feet.
LaPointe jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bombay walks away with a smile on his face. LaPointe gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Luke Bombay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pierre LaPointe.

Bombay closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bombay lands in his opponent's guard.

Bombay postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Bombay tries to stand but LaPointe is controlling from the bottom.

Bombay wants to pass the guard but LaPointe is keeping the position.
LaPointe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bombay's guard.

LaPointe is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
LaPointe tries to stand but Bombay is controlling from the bottom.
Bombay manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. LaPointe manages to get himself to full guard.

Bombay is standing up over LaPointe. LaPointe looks to escape but Bombay dives into side control.

Bombay is trying to get an arm triangle but LaPointe is defending well.
Bombay wants to lay and pray for a moment but LaPointe keeps working.
LaPointe sneaks back into half guard.

LaPointe looking for submissions off his back.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bombay is thwarting LaPointe's attempts to control the position.

Bombay wants to work for an arm triangle but LaPointe is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Bombay seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but LaPointe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
LaPointe has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bombay is working away from the top position though.
Bombay knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for LaPointe on the ground.
Bombay slows the pace down in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luke Bombay dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Bombay ducks down and throws a hook to the body but LaPointe moves away.
Bombay tries to clinch but fails miserably
and LaPointe counters with a good, hard body kick but Bombay shrugs it off.
LaPointe leaves Bombay with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
LaPointe avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bombay tries a head kick but it misses.
LaPointe is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Bombay.
LaPointe wants to clinch but Bombay slips to the side

and Bombay moves into the clinch.
LaPointe tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

LaPointe jumps guard and drags Bombay to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Bombay postures up.
LaPointe manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bombay manages to get himself to full guard.
LaPointe passes Bombay's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Bombay is not content to let LaPointe control the position.
LaPointe frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

LaPointe looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
LaPointe wants to take Bombay's back here but Bombay is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Bombay tries to hold on but LaPointe pushes him away.
LaPointe tries to control but Bombay wriggling away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

LaPointe has hold of Bombay's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Bombay manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Bombay is wriggling around trying to escape.
LaPointe trying to control but he's not successful this time.

LaPointe get's back to his feet.
Danga de danga de dang - Bombay scores with a four punch combination!
LaPointe wants to clinch

and Bombay holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bombay stalling in the clinch.
LaPointe misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Bombay.
LaPointe fails to pull the fight into his guard.

LaPointe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
LaPointe closes the distance but Bombay moves to the side
and Bombay counters with a one-two to the body.

Bombay takes the fight into the clinch.
Bombay jumps guard but LaPointe stands there with Bombay around his waist. Bombay gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
LaPointe stalling in the clinch but Bombay improves position.
Bombay managing to block the knees to the body from LaPointe.

LaPointe jumps guard and drags Bombay to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Bombay stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. LaPointe swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bombay engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

LaPointe can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bombay controls the pace.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Bombay tries to free his leg and advance position but LaPointe is retaining full guard.
LaPointe not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

We're going to have a standup here because Luke Bombay wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
LaPointe tries to clinch up
and Bombay makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Pierre LaPointe will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Bombay's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Bombay throws a sloppy head kick
and LaPointe counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Bombay is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Bombay shoots in looking for a takedown but LaPointe manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bombay's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Bombay shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says LaPointe as he avoids it easily.

and Bombay holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
LaPointe missing with knees to the body.

LaPointe has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bombay uses from the top position.
LaPointe wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

LaPointe is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Bombay has his hands clasped together but LaPointe extends an breaks Bombay's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by LaPointe.
