The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Markanych fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Oliveira moves forwards but Markanych connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Igor Markanych seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Oliveira holds on and takes a little breather.
Oliveira's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Oliveira takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Markanych really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Oliveira. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Oliveira is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Markanych frees his head nicely. Oh but Oliveira has switched to an armbar! Markanych is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
