PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joeri De Visscher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shingo Yamamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joeri De Visscher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shingo Yamamoto!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Ren Mimura and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Visscher fails with a takedown attempt.
De Visscher shoots for a takedown but Yamamoto saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

De Visscher trying to control the position but Yamamoto is working away.
De Visscher creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Yamamoto sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
De Visscher has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Yamamoto is looking to reverse the position.
Yamamoto dodges the ground and pound from De Visscher.

De Visscher decides to stand back up. De Visscher steps back and let's Yamamoto get back to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Yamamoto has clasped his hands together around De Visscher's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
De Visscher wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Yamamoto shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and De Visscher counters with a nice double leg into side control. Yamamoto won't be happy with that.
De Visscher is breathing heavily.
Yamamoto wants to control but De Visscher postures up.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

De Visscher decides to stand up, so the ref orders Yamamoto to his feet.

De Visscher closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - De Visscher lands in his opponent's guard.

De Visscher drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Yamamoto dives on top into guard.

De Visscher escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Yamamoto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

De Visscher has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Yamamoto is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for De Visscher.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
De Visscher manages to get back to half guard.

Yamamoto is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
De Visscher is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

De Visscher wants to control from the top but Yamamoto keeps moving.

De Visscher is trying to maintain a safe position but Yamamoto gets an underhook and turns De Visscher into the cage.

Yamamoto turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Yamamoto manages to end up in side control.

Yamamoto has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
De Visscher throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
De Visscher gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Yamamoto counters with a nice double leg into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shingo Yamamoto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! De Visscher's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Yamamoto shoots and misses

and De Visscher decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Yamamoto's guard.

Yamamoto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in De Visscher's guard.

Yamamoto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. De Visscher swivels though and keeps the full guard.

De Visscher has hold of Yamamoto's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Yamamoto manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Yamamoto is bucking up trying to escape but De Visscher cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

De Visscher is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Yamamoto is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Yamamoto flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. De Visscher anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Yamamoto and secures both hooks! This could be bad! De Visscher slips an arm under Yamamoto chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. De Visscher has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. De Visscher is squeezing on Yamamoto like an anaconda would it's prey. Yamamoto fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Joeri De Visscher!
