The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Badge pulls out of a head kick attempt.

McDonald throws a sloppy head kick and Badge moves out of range easily.
Seamus McDonald seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Badge feints a jab promting McDonald to slip. Badge then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. McDonald slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Badge looks to land a combination. McDonald sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Badge fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McDonald sprawls well initially but Badge persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Badge seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Badge is looking to stand up but McDonald won't let him.
