Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Spartan!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santi tries for a takedown but Spartan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Spartan throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Spartan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Santi was well out of range. Poor timing from Spartan.
Santi shoots in for a takedown but Spartan shows good takedown defense.
Santi tries to clinch up
and Spartan counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Spartan moves into range and connects with a jab.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Spartan is on top in guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Spartan thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
BOOM! Spartan connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Spartan throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Spartan sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Spartan lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Spartan thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Spartan dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Santi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Spartan as he jumps to the side.
Spartan lands with an overhand left.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Santi is defended easily by Spartan.
Spartan's corner calls for a 1-2. Spartan obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Santi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Spartan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Santi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Spartan tries to avoid it but Santi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Spartan to the ground. Spartan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Spartan throws a looping overhand right but Santi ducks down to avoid it.

Matt Spartan seems to be getting the better of the standup.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Santi is rocked!
Spartan cracks Santi with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Santi tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Spartan pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Santi is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matt Spartan!
