PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kawakami Takeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Schwartz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schwartz has chosen Baby Got Back as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kawakami Takeda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rob Schwartz!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shirou Masuda.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That kick from Takeda tenderised Schwartz's leg. Schwartz is trying to keep his angry face on.
Takeda lands a leg kick that knocks Schwartz off balance momentarily.
Takeda leaves Schwartz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Takeda throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

It looks like Rob Schwartz has been cut.

Takeda instigates a clinch.
Schwartz tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Takeda just stands there and leans against the cage.
Schwartz working hard to break the clinch.
Schwartz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Takeda is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Kawakami Takeda has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rob Schwartz.
Takeda doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Takeda throws a punch but it's blocked by Schwartz.
Takeda digs a right hand into Schwartz's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Schwartz's gas tank.
Takeda scores with a shot to the side of Schwartz's head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Takeda creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Schwartz can't break the clinch.
A short right from Takeda.
Takeda lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Schwartz.
Takeda tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Takeda lands a hook to the side of the head.
Schwartz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Takeda walks away with a smile on his face. Schwartz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
A nice leg kick lands there from Takeda.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Takeda has Schwartz up against the cage in a clinch.
Schwartz fails to pull guard.
Schwartz looks gassed!
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Takeda creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Schwartz is rocked!
Takeda lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Schwartz backwards.
Schwartz is still on wobbly legs! Can Takeda finish him?
Schwartz is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Takeda pushes Schwartz back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Takeda lands a body punch in the clinch.
Takeda connects with a nasty looking knee right to Schwartz's face.
Takeda jerks Schwartz's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Schwartz drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Takeda goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Takeda because Schwartz was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
