Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Cunovsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Patrick Cunovsky!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cunovsky lands with a kick to the ribs.
Reyes keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Reyes misses with a takedown attempt

and Cunovsky counters with a single leg into guard. Reyes didn't expect that.
Reyes keeping moving, preventing Cunovsky from controlling successfully.
Cunovsky is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Cunovsky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Reyes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Patrick Cunovsky wasn't active enough on the ground.

Cunovsky shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Reyes manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Cunovsky wants to control from the top but Reyes keeps moving.
Reyes wants to stand and escape but Cunovsky is having none of it.
Cunovsky would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Reyes is looking to sweep but instead, Cunovsky has passed into half guard.
Cunovsky tries to pass the half guard into mount. Reyes knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cunovsky is thwarting Reyes's attempts to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cunovsky is looking to take a break and control but Reyes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cunovsky is looking to advance position but Reyes won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cunovsky is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Patrick Cunovsky has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Reyes tries to sprawl but Cunovsky drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Reyes wants to control but Cunovsky is keeping busy and won't allow it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Patrick Cunovsky wasn't active enough on the ground.

and Cunovsky counters with a head kick.

Cunovsky pushes Reyes up against the cage in a clinch.

Cunovsky gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Reyes regains guard.

Cunovsky controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Reyes tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

and Cunovsky counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Reyes's guard now.
Patrick Cunovsky has got the better of the ground game so far.
Cunovsky controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Cunovsky postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Reyes is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cunovsky, into his guard.

Cunovsky is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A clash of legs there as Reyes blocks the low kick.

Cunovsky clinches with his opponent.
Cunovsky tries to pull guard but Reyes won't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A right hook to the body lands for Reyes.

Cunovsky lands a takedown into guard.
Cunovsky is looking to stand up but Reyes won't let him.
Reyes lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cunovsky!
Cunovsky is breathing heavily.
Reyes controlling from the full mount.
Reyes trying to control but Cunovsky is having none of it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cunovsky can do anything to dispel that myth.
Reyes tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Reyes lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Cunovsky is looking to improve his position but Reyes isn't that keen on the idea.
Cunovsky is just holding on here. Reyes manages to take his back.

Cunovsky is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Reyes gets his way!
Reyes is punishing Cunovsky with some ground and pound.

Reyes has the hooks in. Cunovsky is starting to panic. He's trying to push off one of the legs but he's left his neck open to attack. Reyes passes his arm under Cunovsky's neck and tightens up a rear naked choke! This one is surely all over! Yes, Cunovsky taps!
