PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rodney Ang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dexter Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ang comes to the cage accompanied by Long Way To The Top. Morgan has chosen Hear Me Now as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rodney Ang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dexter Morgan!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Yves DeLean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morgan lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Ang is looking to clinch but Morgan is avoiding it.
Morgan doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ang counters with a nice uppercut.
Morgan stuffs the takedown.
A looping hook to the body misses from Ang. Morgan does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ang fails with an attempt to clinch.
Morgan gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Ang counters with a left to the body.
Morgan throws a combination that misses
letting Ang counter with a right hand.

and Ang counters by clinching up.
Ang is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Morgan pulls him back up using the underhooks.

It looks like Dexter Morgan has been cut.

Ang is trying to trip Morgan. He has hold of a leg but Morgan is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ang persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Morgan wants to get back to his feet but Ang is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Morgan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ang controls the pace.
Morgan lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ang!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morgan throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Ang is in a horrible position here. Morgan smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Morgan lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Ang hang on?

Morgan sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Morgan can't control as he wanted to and Ang manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

Morgan forces his way into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Morgan looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ang with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Morgan misses with a takedown attempt

and Ang counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Ang breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Morgan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Ang misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Morgan.
Ang misses with a wild body shot.
Ang fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Morgan checks it well.
A shot to the liver by Morgan. Beautiful body shot.
Morgan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Rodney Ang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dexter Morgan.
Ang feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Morgan's calf.

enabling Ang to counter with a crisp jab.
Ang shoots in for a takedown but Morgan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Ang throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Morgan doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ang counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Morgan throws a right and a left that Ang avoids nicely.
Ang throws a series of punches but Morgan avoids them all with ease.
Ang misses with a body shot

and Morgan counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ang!
Ang holds of for dear life.
Ang is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Morgan has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Ang's face.
Ang tries to hold on but Morgan postures up.

Morgan jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ang is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ang and Morgan has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Ang is trying to control but can't.
Morgan throws a strike but Ang avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Morgan wants to control from the top but Ang keeps moving.
Ang wants to sweep here but Morgan controlling him for the moment.

Morgan working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ang's head.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ang looking for a sweep. Not yet Ang, not yet.
Ang looking to control but Morgan passes into half guard.
Ang tries to get to full guard but Morgan has control of the leg.
Ang blocking the ground and pound attempt from Morgan.
Ang desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Ang moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dexter Morgan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Ang tries to close the distance and clinch up but Morgan swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Ang!
Morgan fails with the takedown

and Ang counters with a shoot takedown. Morgan fights it but they end up in guard.
Morgan utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Morgan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Morgan wants to take a breather but Ang is having none of it.
Ang moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Morgan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Ang goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Morgan is on top in guard.

Ang is trying to control the position but Morgan postures up.
Ang looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Morgan puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Morgan takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Rodney Ang has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ang is trying to control but can't.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Morgan's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Morgan wants to control from the top but Ang keeps moving.

Morgan is looking to work some ground and pound but Ang has wrist control.

Ang looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
