Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Like Whoa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Pontes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Like Whoa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fernando Pontes!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whoa tries to bum rush Pontes with a series of wild strikes but Pontes uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Whoa fails with an attempt to clinch.
Whoa throws a series of punches but Pontes moves out of range.
Whoa throws a right hand that misses
and Pontes counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Pontes keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Whoa misses with a right hand
and Pontes counters with a nice uppercut.
Pontes avoids the body shot from Whoa.

Pontes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

and Pontes counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

and Pontes counters with a three punch combo that has Whoa backing up. Whoa nods at Pontes to acknowledge the strikes.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Pontes lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Whoa misses with a few strikes there.

and Pontes counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Whoa tries to roll over but Pontes keeps him under control.

Well Pontes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
