Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Burroughs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bret McCoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burroughs comes to the ring accompanied by Simple Man By Shinedown. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Burroughs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bret McCoy!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCoy misses with a takedown
and Burroughs counters with a lovely straight right hand!
A looping hook to the body misses from Burroughs. McCoy does a little dance to reset his feet.
McCoy throws an overhand right that lands on Burroughs's shoulder, as Burroughs tries to avoid the shot.
McCoy has his takedown stuffed
and Burroughs connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Burroughs avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Burroughs throws a good cross that connects.
McCoy blocks a head kick by Burroughs.
McCoy has his takedown stuffed
and Burroughs counters with a nice body shot.
John Burroughs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bret McCoy.
McCoy shoots and misses
and Burroughs counters with a nice uppercut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

McCoy is still in real trouble! Can Burroughs finish him?

Burroughs stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
McCoy seems to have recovered his senses.
McCoy on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
A shot to the liver by Burroughs. Beautiful body shot.
McCoy takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Burroughs will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Burroughs lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McCoy misses with a takedown

and Burroughs counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple McCoy!
Burroughs working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Burroughs scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Burroughs wants to lay and pray for a moment but McCoy keeps working.

McCoy wants to get back to full guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
McCoy is trying to get back to full guard.

Burroughs is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
McCoy is looking to improve his position.

McCoy wants to control but Burroughs is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Burroughs prevents McCoy from improving his position.
Burroughs is stalling here. McCoy is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Burroughs seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and McCoy has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
McCoy is putting a hurting on Burroughs here, landing some big shots from side control.
Burroughs tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McCoy wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
McCoy has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Burroughs!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Burroughs is trying to stand.
McCoy looking to control but Burroughs is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Burroughs tries to lock up and control but McCoy gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
McCoy pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Burroughs is wriggling around trying to escape.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McCoy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
McCoy misses with some ground and pound and Burroughs recovers position to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McCoy throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Burroughs counters with a stiff right hand.
McCoy walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
No joy there for Burroughs, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Burroughs throws a low kick but McCoy avoids it.
Burroughs missing with a left hand there. McCoy was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Burroughs scores with a three punch combo!
McCoy tries for a takedown but Burroughs circles away easily
and Burroughs counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Burroughs throws a series of punches but McCoy avoids them all with ease.
Burroughs scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Burroughs is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McCoy can do to turn this around?
McCoy cracks Burroughs with a good jab.

and Burroughs counters with a one-two to the body.

McCoy throws a series of punches but Burroughs avoids them all with ease.

McCoy wants to pass the guard but Burroughs is defending well.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McCoy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
McCoy content to control rather than advance.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Burroughs trying to control here.
Burroughs is looking for a sweep. McCoy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
McCoy trying to control from half guard but Burroughs is working away.

McCoy sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Burroughs defending well though.
McCoy missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
McCoy looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McCoy connects with a nice short shot to Burroughs's temple.

McCoy is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Burroughs sees it coming and defends easily.
McCoy stalling.
Burroughs is doing well to control the position and prevent McCoy from advancing to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Burroughs will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

and Burroughs counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Burroughs swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and McCoy decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Burroughs's guard.

McCoy is trying to reverse the position but instead Burroughs has taken his back - oops!
Burroughs slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
McCoy trying to control the hands but Burroughs breaks the grip.
Burroughs gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
McCoy tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Burroughs can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McCoy is looking to escape.

Burroughs tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
John Burroughs is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
McCoy keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

John Burroughs showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Burroughs, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
