And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Grant Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bonjasky throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bonjasky throws a sloppy head kick and Hughes moves out of range easily.

Bonjasky parries the strikes from Hughes easily there. Hughes is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bonjasky to escape.
Hughes working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hughes creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Hughes throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Hughes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bonjasky is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hughes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bonjasky tries to escape but Hughes is in control.

Bonjasky tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hughes wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Hughes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bonjasky, who protects the arm well.
Bonjasky is not content to let Hughes control the position.

Bonjasky tries to improve position but can't.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Hughes closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bonjasky circles away.
Hughes closes the distance and clinches up with Bonjasky, looking for a takedown. Hughes pushes Bonjasky against the cage but Bonjasky circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hughes wants to clinch up but Bonjasky keeps it at a distance.
Bonjasky with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Hughes looks gassed!
Bonjasky tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bonjasky throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Hughes crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
