PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Charles Sheeneasy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rainn Hewitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Charles Sheeneasy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rainn Hewitt!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sheeneasy tries to clinch up
and Hewitt counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Hewitt tries to clinch up.
Hewitt throws a head kick that misses.
Sheeneasy misses with a takedown attempt - Hewitt sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Sheeneasy tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Hewitt manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hewitt stalks Sheeneasy and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Sheeneasy's face. Sheeneasy staggers backwards, shaken.

Sheeneasy closes the distance and clinches.
Hewitt is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Sheeneasy keeps control of Hewitt as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Sheeneasy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hewitt fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sheeneasy.

and Sheeneasy counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sheeneasy.

Sheeneasy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hewitt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sheeneasy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hewitt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sheeneasy advances position into side control!
Sheeneasy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hewitt keeps working.
Hewitt tries to buck Sheeneasy off but Sheeneasy is having none of it.
Hewitt is not content to let Sheeneasy control the position.
Sheeneasy looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Hewitt is avoiding damage well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sheeneasy trying to control the position but Hewitt is working away.

Sheeneasy misses with the ground and pound.

Sheeneasy is chipping away with strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sheeneasy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sheeneasy in side control, throwing shots but Hewitt defends.

Sheeneasy is looking to take a break and control but Hewitt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Sheeneasy is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hewitt is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hewitt.
Sheeneasy shoots in looking for a takedown. Hewitt tries to sprawl out of it but Sheeneasy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hewitt manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hewitt moves into range and connects with a jab.
Sheeneasy takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Sheeneasy seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Sheeneasy is keen to just control but Hewitt is a slippery customer.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hewitt avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Sheeneasy.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Charles Sheeneasy wasn't doing enough on the ground.
A decent looking cross lands there for Hewitt.
Sheeneasy shoots for a double leg takedown but Hewitt sprawls well. He's pushed Sheeneasy's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hewitt thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Sheeneasy if he has to take too many more of those.
Charles Sheeneasy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sheeneasy moves in looking to clinch but Hewitt pushes him off.
Rainn Hewitt is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hewitt throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Hewitt misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sheeneasy tries to clinch
and Hewitt counters with an inside leg kick.
Sheeneasy takes a kick to the side of the head.
