Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tyson Santos!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mason drives through and clinches with Santos against the cage.
Mason lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Santos wants to break free but Mason has control.
Santos is looking to break free of the clinch but Mason has double underhooks.
Santos is trying to force a seperation but Mason has the dominant position.
Santos fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Mason has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Santos uses from the top position.
Santos trying to control the position from guard on top but Mason is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mason looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Santos slips a nice elbow through Mason's hands, connecting with Mason's forehead.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

We're going to have a standup here because Alex Mason wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Mason clinches up with Santos and pushes him back against the cage.

Mason manages to break the clinch.

Mason closes the distance and pushes Santos back into the cage.

Santos has had enough of the clinch but Mason keeps him there for the moment.

and Mason counters with a slapping leg kick.

and Mason decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Santos's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Mason counters with a shoot takedown. Santos fights it but they end up in guard.
Mason wanted to stand there but Santos had control of the position.
Mason trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Santos looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mason is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Santos shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Mason counters by moving into the clinch.

Santos throwing strikes from guard but Mason blocks nicely.
Mason knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Santos on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mason not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Santos wants to control from the top but Mason keeps moving.
Santos controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tyson Santos wasn't active enough on the ground.

and Mason counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Santos drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Santos jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Santos works over Mason with some ground and pound from guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mason is trying to control the position but Santos postures up.

Santos drops back looking for a leg! Mason is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mason manages to kick Santos off! Santos jumps back into Mason's guard.

Santos is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alex Mason dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Santos misses with a takedown attempt

and Mason holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Santos misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Mason.

Mason breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Mason has closed the distance and engaged Santos in a clinch.
Santos can't get the takedown.
Mason keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Santos's efforts to push away.

Mason has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Santos clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

What's going on here? Mason has decided to give up on the ground game despite having his opponent's back!
Santos shoots and misses

Santos is looking to control Mason's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Santos avoid being mounted?

and Mason holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Santos is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Mason is defending well for now.
Mason lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Santos.

Mason pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Santos shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Mason holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Santos jumps guard but Mason stands there with Santos around his waist. Santos gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

A head punch on the inside from Santos fails to land.

Santos holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.

Mason decides to stand up, so the ref orders Santos to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Santos works his way to full guard. Good work.
Santos wants to get back to his feet but Mason is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Mason decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Santos, up you get!

Santos tries to lock up and control but Mason gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Mason is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Santos can do to turn this around?
