Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Meister Stein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Spilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tony Spilla is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Meister Stein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Spilla!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spilla misses with a takedown attempt
and Stein counters with a nice uppercut.
Tony Spilla seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stein doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Meister Stein has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Spilla.
Spilla misses with a few strikes there.
Spilla tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Stein manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Spilla jumps guard and drags Stein to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stein got a little sloppy there for a moment and Spilla has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Stein has managed to get both his arms back between Spilla's legs - danger averted.
Stein won't allow Spilla to get back to his feet.

Stein really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Meister Stein wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Stein throws an overhand right that lands on Spilla's shoulder, as Spilla tries to avoid the shot.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Spilla throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Stein gets the takedown into side control.
Stein working the head and body with strikes.
Spilla tries to control but Stein manages to take his back.
Stein keeps control of the position easily here as Spilla tries to buck him off.

Stein has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Spilla has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Spilla rolls, trying to escape but Stein keeps control of the position.

Spilla is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Spilla just trying to survive but Stein is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Spilla breaks Stein's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Spilla has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Stein is proving hard to escape from.

Stein wants to improve his position but instead Spilla has moved into half guard.
Spilla wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stein keeps working.

Spilla tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Stein.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Spilla looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Stein with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Spilla slips under a jab from Stein.

Stein feints and as Spilla raises his hands in defense, Stein changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Stein wants to control from the top but Spilla keeps moving.
Stein works over Spilla with some ground and pound from guard.
Stein working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Spilla's head.
Spilla wants to get back to his feet but Stein is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Stein stays in close to Spilla's body and controls the position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Stein staying out of range there.
Stein is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Stein has closed the distance and engaged Spilla in a clinch.
Stein is trying to maintain a safe position but Spilla gets an underhook and turns Stein into the cage.
Spilla tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Stein pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Spilla jumps guard but Stein stands there with Spilla around his waist. Spilla gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Stein has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Stein takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Stein seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Spilla for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Stein tries to control but Spilla wriggling away.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Meister Stein wasn't doing enough on the ground.

and Spilla counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Spilla wants to control from the top but Stein keeps moving.
Spilla is in close to Stein's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Stein wants to sweep here but Spilla controlling him for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Meister Stein dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Stein wants to lay and pray for a moment but Spilla keeps working.
Spilla gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Stein tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Spilla sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Stein in particular looking to stall.
Stein's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Spilla wants to control the action here but instead Stein manages to pass to full mount!

Stein has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Stein fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Stein tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Stein lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Meister Stein showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Stein has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
