PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis has chosen disturbed-indestructable as his entrance music. Mark Hunt has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mark Hunt !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jay Davis!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunt throws a looping overhand right but Davis ducks down to avoid it.
Hunt misses with a straight right.
Hunt throws an off balance right hand
and Davis connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Davis uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hunt .
A looping hook to the body misses from Hunt . Davis does a little dance to reset his feet.
Davis shoots in looking for a takedown. Hunt tries to sprawl out of it but Davis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hunt manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Davis misses with a takedown
and Hunt counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hunt misses with a left hand

so Davis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Davis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Davis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Davis won't allow Hunt to get back to his feet.

Hunt kicks Davis off and gets to his feet.
Hunt misses with a straight left.
Hunt throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Davis ducks under a wild hook from Hunt .
Hunt throws a sloppy body shot

and Davis counters with a takedown into side control.
Davis looks gassed!
Hunt is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Davis has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Davis looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Davis thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hunt pushes Davis away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Davis gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Hunt trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Hunt on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hunt tries to get out of the position.

Davis working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Hunt is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Davis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hunt has escaped the position, nice work there.
Hunt is pushing Davis's head away, looking to escape. Davis manages to hold on to the position though.

Davis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hunt , who protects the arm well.
Hunt is trying to get back to his feet.

Davis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hunt knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Davis prevents Hunt from escaping the position.

Davis is trying to get an arm triangle but Hunt is defending well.
Hunt pushes Davis away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Davis gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Davis is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hunt is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hunt is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Davis working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Hunt is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Davis has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Davis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Davis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Davis prevents Hunt from escaping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Davis dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hunt smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Hunt misses the shot to the body.
Hunt jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Hunt misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hunt throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A big right from Hunt misses.
Hunt just misses with a punch to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Davis counters with a takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Davis is trying to get an arm triangle but Hunt is defending well.

Davis is working to tighten is grip on Hunt 's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Hunt has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Davis is really squeezing tight and eventually Hunt passes out! Davis breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
