PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Delaney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shamus Cotter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Delaney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Shamus Cotter!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, James Glass and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cotter fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Delaney avoids it really well and circles away.
Nice sprawl there from Delaney as Cotter shoots in.

Delaney closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Delaney stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Cotter to get to his feet.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Delaney decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cotter, up you get!

Cotter tries to free his leg and advance position but Delaney is retaining full guard.
Delaney wants to sweep but no luck.
Delaney looking to control but Cotter passes into half guard.
Delaney is doing well to control the position and prevent Cotter from advancing to side control.
Delaney throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cotter is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Delaney tries to kick Cotter off in order to stand up. Cotter Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Cotter dives in and grabs Delaney's left leg, looking for a takedown. Delaney pushes down on Cotter's head and hops out.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Delaney tries to reverse the position but Cotter maintains control.
Delaney sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Delaney is trying to maintain the position but Cotter is very close to passing his half guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Shamus Cotter wasn't active enough on the ground.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cotter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cotter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Delaney not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Cotter is sitting in close to Delaney's body. Delaney has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Cotter is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Cotter is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Delaney.
