The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Alexander.
Howlett wants to get back to his feet but Alexander drags him back down.
Alexander is trying to ground and pound but Howlett uses the momentary lack of control by Alexander to regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alexander is working for a submission of some sort.

Alexander is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Howlett doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Alexander.

Alexander seems to be working for a kimura but Howlett defends the submission attempt.

Howlett tries to kick Alexander off but Alexander keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Alexander is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Howlett still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Howlett has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Alexander tries to escape back to his feet but Howlett has kept hold of him... Oh, now he's got Alexander's back and is looking for the choke... Is it? Is it sunk in? YES! Alexander is tapping! Howlett saw the opportunity and took it - ruthless!
