PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Juzeppe Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesco White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson comes into the arena with RO-rap prezent blaring out of the sound system. White has chosen Smoke the Fire as his entrance music. The key to victory for Juzeppe Nelson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Juzeppe Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jesco White!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Dmitry Maklakov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

White drives through and clinches with Nelson against the cage.
White tries to land a knee to the head but Nelson blocks with his arms.
Nelson wants to break the clinch but can't.
Nelson is trying to break the clinch but White is controlling him.

White breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nelson closes the distance but White moves to the side

and White counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

White pulls guard.
Nelson wants to stand and escape but instead White has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Nelson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
White prevents Nelson from getting back to his feet.

White postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Nelson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of White, into his guard.
Nelson is looking to stand up but White won't let him.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Nelson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but White has him pressed against the cage.

Nelson is fighting off a takedown attempt but White is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Nelson to the mat. Nelson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
White must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

White drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nelson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nelson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nelson!
Nelson is breathing heavily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
White manages to work his way to half guard, despite Nelson's best efforts.
White is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Nelson jumps into side control!

White explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

White feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

White decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Nelson, up you get!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nelson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nelson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling White to score with a decent uppercut.

White shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than White was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

White is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Nelson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

White is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



White moves into range and clinches up with Nelson.
White is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Nelson pulls him back up using the underhooks.

White lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Nelson hold on?!
Nelson is trying to remain composed but White is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
Nelson is trying to get back to his feet but White has full control of the position and if anything, Nelson has just worked his way into a worse spot.

White has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Nelson has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Well White has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
