Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Charmaine Dela Cruz!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jackson Oman!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dela Cruz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Oman controls the position.
Oman cracks Dela Cruz with a big right hand but Dela Cruz just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Dela Cruz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Oman on the ground.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Let's hope that Oman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Oman working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Oman works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Oman advances nicely into full mount.
Oman lands a big shot there that rocks Dela Cruz but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like Oman might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Oman lands a big shot to the head and Dela Cruz winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
