Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Bishop !
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mir instigates a clinch.

Mir lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Bishop is trying to get back to full guard.
Mir tries to stand but can't do so whilst Bishop controls his leg.
Bishop punching from the bottom.
Bishop has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bishop is trying to get back to full guard.
Bishop is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Bishop should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Mir is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Bishop is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Mir pulls his head out easily.
Bishop is staying active underneath Mir, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Bishop is looking for a sweep. Mir is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Mir decides to stand and escape the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mir swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Mir shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mir showed some decent athleticism there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bishop is trying to control but can't.
Bishop is trying to control but Mir passes into side control!
Mir wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bishop keeps working.
Bishop manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Bishop is trying to control but can't.
Mir is keen to just control but Bishop is a slippery customer.
Bishop wants to improve his position but Mir is controlling well.
Bishop gets back to full guard.
Bishop looks gassed!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mir wanted to stand there but Bishop had control of the position.
Bishop trying to control the position.
Mir trying to control the position from guard on top but Bishop is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Bishop is looking for a triangle here but Mir uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mir has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Mir gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Bishop fails with the takedown

and Mir counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bishop won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mir decides to stand up, so the ref orders Bishop to his feet.

Mir closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mir lands in his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bishop working for a triangle but Mir defends it easily.

Bishop had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Mir is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Bishop Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Mir's back instead.
Bishop scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Mir trying to control the hands but Bishop won't let him.

Bishop is looking for the choke from the back position but Mir is controlling his hands well.

Mir is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Bishop gets his way!
Will Bishop go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mir trying to control the action but Bishop just sinks the hooks in.

Mir manages to escape to his feet.
Mir throws a jab but it's blocked by Bishop .
Bishop misses with a takedown

and Mir counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Mir tries to free his leg and advance position but Bishop is retaining full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bishop looking for a sweep. Not yet Bishop , not yet.
Mir tries to stand but Bishop is controlling from the bottom.
Mir wants to control from the top but Bishop keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Mir dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Mir feints and as Bishop raises his hands in defense, Mir changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Mir tries to free his leg and advance position but Bishop is retaining full guard.

Bishop isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mir stacks Bishop on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mir!
Bishop manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Bishop gets back to full guard.
Bishop has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Mir has passed into side control.
Bishop is looking for a sweep.
Bishop sneaks back into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bishop is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Bishop trying to control here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bishop works his way to full guard. Good work.

Mir has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Bishop to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Mir is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Bishop pulls down on the head and he's put Mir to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jason Bishop !
