Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kuro Kumiko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mommy Ice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kumiko might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Enter the Samurai. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kumiko shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ice napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kumiko is staying tight to Ice's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Kumiko is trying to get an arm triangle but Ice is defending well.

Kumiko wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ice, who protects the arm well.
Kumiko advances to mount.
Kumiko avoids the attempt from Ice to control.

Kumiko with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kumiko takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Ice is looking to get to half guard.

Kumiko is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Ice is surviving well by controlling Kumiko's body position as best he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ice keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kumiko is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ice to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ice shrugs it off.

Kumiko can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ice is looking to escape.
Ice really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kumiko. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kumiko is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ice has managed to escape the submission attempt.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ice misses with a wild body shot.
Ice wants to land a leg kick but Kumiko is out of range.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Ice, right into the meat.
Kumiko shoots in for a double leg but Ice sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Ice swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kumiko.


It looks like Kuro Kumiko has been cut.
Ice dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Ice looks to land a combination. Kumiko sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Ice throws out a leg kick but Kumiko moves out of range and Ice only half commits.
Ice lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Ice.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ice throws a leg kick but Kumiko sees it coming and moves out of range.

Ice gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kumiko to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Kumiko has gone for a leg lock! Ice slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kumiko's guard.
Ice is looking to work some ground and pound but Kumiko has wrist control.

Kumiko is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ice defends well.
Ice must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ice accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kumiko is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Ice postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Kumiko escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ice gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Ice throws and elbow that misses. Kumiko uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ice's guard. Nice move by Kumiko!

Kumiko slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Ice seems a little lost for a moment, as Kumiko dominates the positioning.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Kumiko counters with a shoot takedown. Ice fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ice throws a strike but Kumiko rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Kuro Kumiko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ice keeping moving, preventing Kumiko from controlling successfully.
Ice can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kumiko controls the pace.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kumiko not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Ice keeping moving, preventing Kumiko from controlling successfully.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Kuro Kumiko just wasn't active enough.
Ice misses with a head kick.

Mommy Ice seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ice wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Kumiko shoots for a double leg takedown but Ice sprawls well. He's pushed Kumiko's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ice looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Kumiko tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ice knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Kumiko is looking for a kimura but Ice is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kumiko to get the leverage.

Kumiko is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ice is just riding it out for now. Kumiko eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kumiko has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Ice defend it? Kumiko steps over the head and cranks it - Ice is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Kumiko!
