Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Vanya Savin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derrick Bennett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bennett has chosen B.I.G Notorious as his entrance music. Derrick Bennett has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vanya Savin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derrick Bennett!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Savin with a poor takedown
and Bennett counters with a nice uppercut.
Derrick Bennett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bennett drives through with a takedown into guard.
Bennett trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Savin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bennett manages to get himself to full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Savin wants to control from the top but Bennett keeps moving.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Bennett manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Savin manages to get himself to full guard.

Bennett is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Savin is breathing heavily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Savin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Vanya Savin will probably get the nod.
That's time! Savin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Bennett closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Savin to the mat! Savin manages to get full guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Savin jumps guard and drags Bennett to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Bennett has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bennett works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Savin is in a horrible position here. Bennett smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Bennett might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Savin kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Bennett jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Savin manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Bennett decides to stand up, so the ref orders Savin to his feet.
Bennett lands a head kick. Savin smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Savin has his takedown stuffed

and Bennett counters with a takedown into side control.
The ground and pound from Bennett seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Bennett creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Savin sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Derrick Bennett showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Bennett closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Bennett wants to take a breather but Savin is having none of it.
Savin is looking for a sweep. Bennett is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bennett seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Savin is not content to let Bennett control the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Derrick Bennett wasn't active enough on the ground.

Bennett tries to sprawl but Savin drives through with a takedown into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Savin stalling away here and it's allowed Bennett to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Bennett pushes Savin off and gets back to his feet.

Oh but Savin is tightening it up a little... Bennett has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Bennett reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Bennett taps out! nice BJJ there by Savin!
