Micky Ward will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut there from Ward.
Mendes has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Ward.
Ward swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Mendes uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ward.

Ward connects with a looping right hand.
Ward swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Ward pushes Mendes up against the cage in a clinch.

Ward tries to stall but Mendes uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Ward landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Mendes has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ward avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Mendes is working for takedown but Ward is calmly controlling the position for now.

Mendes has picked Ward up - he's going for a ride! Mendes dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
