With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ronnie DeVoe!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Russell Pearce and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeVoe throws a leg kick that is checked
and Casio counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Casio closes this distance looking for a takedown but DeVoe circles away.

and Casio counters with a series of strikes. DeVoe will be more careful next time no doubt.
Casio's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Casio duly obliges.

and Casio counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A left and a right from Casio both land. Nice combination.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Casio decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Casio thows a huge punch but DeVoe dodges it nicely.
Casio looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks DeVoe with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
DeVoe pushes Casio off looking to stand but Casio dives back in and keeps control.

Casio seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but DeVoe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
DeVoe tries to kick Casio off but Casio keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Casio has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Casio is controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
DeVoe wants to get back to his feet.

Casio is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. DeVoe doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Casio.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Casio shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. DeVoe defends it nicely.
Ronnie DeVoe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

DeVoe takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Casio lands with a kick to the temple. DeVoe shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Casio moves in looking to clinch but DeVoe pushes him off.

enabling Casio to counter with a crisp jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Casio is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in DeVoe's half guard.

Casio seems to be looking for submissions.
Casio wants to free his trapped foot but DeVoe is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Casio decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
DeVoe is breathing heavily.

DeVoe circles away from the clinch attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from DeVoe enables Casio to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. DeVoe manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if DeVoe can do anything to dispel that myth.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

DeVoe needs to keep his hands up - Casio had a free shot at his head there.
Casio fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. DeVoe looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Casio connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between DeVoe's hands.
Casio tries to clinch but DeVoe is having none of it.

That's time! Casio's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Casio closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Casio lands a right hand that snaps the head of DeVoe backwards.

Casio pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Casio shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as DeVoe sprawls well. DeVoe wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Casio gets slowly back to his feet.

DeVoe has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
DeVoe tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Casio paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Casio is looking to take a break and control but DeVoe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Casio thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
DeVoe is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Casio asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Casio is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that DeVoe can do to turn this around?
DeVoe takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Casio tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. DeVoe just stands there and leans against the cage.

DeVoe wants to get back to his feet but Casio is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Casio wants to control from the top but DeVoe keeps moving.

Casio is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
DeVoe wants to clinch but Casio slips to the side
and Casio counters with a stiff right hand.
DeVoe thows a leg kick but Casio checks it
and Casio counters with a three punch combo that has DeVoe backing up. DeVoe nods at Casio to acknowledge the strikes.
Ronnie DeVoe has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Paul Casio is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

and Casio counters with a nice uppercut.
Casio lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

and Casio makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Casio stands up and we're back to a striking position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Casio has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
