PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leon Muller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy the fist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Leon Muller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Jimmy the fist!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
the fist's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and the fist duly obliges.
the fist misses with a series of wild punches.
A nice combination there by the fist.

the fist gets the takedown into side control.
the fist trying to control the action but Muller is working from the bottom.

the fist decides to stand up, so the ref orders Muller to his feet.

the fist throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Muller was covering up waiting for the punch and the fist finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Muller will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
the fist throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Muller works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
the fist content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

the fist trying to control the position from guard on top but Muller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Muller is looking to stand up but the fist isn't so interested in that idea.

the fist gets to his feet. Muller looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Horrible takedown by the fist or perhaps it was just good defense by Muller which made him look bad.
Muller throws a jab when the fist was well out of range.
Muller bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

the fist shoots in but Muller avoids the takedown attempt easily.

the fist rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Muller moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

the fist looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. the fist lands a nice short elbow.
the fist throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
the fist wants to stand up but Muller is controlling the position.

Muller is trying to stand back up but the fist is controlling him

Muller is trying to stand up here but the fist is controlling him well.
Muller trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
the fist is trying to control the action in half guard but Muller is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Muller pushes the fist off looking to stand but the fist dives back in and keeps control.

the fist throwing shots but Muller is blocking nicely.
the fist is keen to just control but Muller is a slippery customer.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
the fist looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Jimmy the fist has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Muller clobbers the fist with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

It looks like Jimmy the fist has been cut.
the fist just misses with a punch to the body.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Muller! the fist is out on his feet! Muller rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - the fist is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! the fist is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
