And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Pineda!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves closes the distance and clinches up with Pineda, looking for a takedown. Alves pushes Pineda against the cage but Pineda circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pineda slips a straight right by Alves.
Alves misses with a jab to the body
and Pineda counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Alves walks into a straight right hand from Pineda.
Pineda connects with a body shot that sends Alves's belly button to the back.
Pineda lands a head shot.
Alves takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Alves drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Pineda is looking for a sweep.

Alves is pressing down on Pineda's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pineda is holding on for now.

Mark Pineda has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

and Pineda counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Pineda throws an overhand right that lands on Alves's shoulder, as Alves tries to avoid the shot.

Pineda digs a good hook to Alves's body.
Pineda uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Alves.
Alves looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Pineda fails to land with a series of punches.
Alves ducks right into an uppercut from Pineda.
Some wild striking there from Pineda.
Pineda just misses with a punch to the body.
Pineda throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Alves on the side of the head.

Alves misses with a straight left.
Alves rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Pineda counters with a series of strikes. Alves will be more careful next time no doubt.

Pineda misses with a looping left.
Oh Alves is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Pineda throws a shot from downtown. Alves moves away and avoids it.
Alves uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pineda.
Pineda catches Alves with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Alves forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!
