PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Amoussou Karl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Flint Marko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Amoussou Karl!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Flint Marko!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karl throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Marko's head.
Karl wants to clinch up but Marko keeps it at a distance.
Karl misses with a head kick.
Karl tries to clinch but Marko is having none of it.
Karl tries to clinch up but Marko circles away and keeps his distance.

Marko changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Karl looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Karl is pushing Marko's head away, looking to escape. Marko manages to hold on to the position though.

Karl explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Karl throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Karl is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Karl tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Marko manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Marko keeps the fight on the outside.
Karl is looking to clinch but Marko is avoiding it.
Marko looks to land a right hand but Karl moved out of range.
Karl tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marko swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Karl fails in his attempt to clinch.
Karl tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Marko manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Marko avoids the head kick by Karl.

Marko throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Karl tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Marko is in Karl's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Karl working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Marko doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Marko manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Marko prevents Karl from getting back to his feet.
Karl is breathing heavily.

Marko slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Check out the look on Marko's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Karl tries to buck Marko off but Marko is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Karl wants to get back to his feet.
Marko wants to control but Karl is keeping him busy.
Karl is pushing Marko's head away, looking to escape. Marko manages to hold on to the position though.

Karl wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Karl is trying to get back to half guard.
Karl knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Marko on the ground.
Marko controls the position.

Marko is looking to take a break and control but Karl is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Marko wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Karl, who protects the arm well.
Marko misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Marko trying to control the action but Karl is working from the bottom.
Karl is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Marko asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Marko is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Karl has escaped the position, nice work there.
Marko wants to lay and pray for a moment but Karl keeps working.

Karl tries to buck Marko off but Marko is having none of it.

Marko is looking to take a break and control but Karl is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Marko has hold of Karl's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Karl seems comfortable defending it but Marko has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Karl is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Karl is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Marko couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Flint Marko!
