Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sam Malone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miroslav Krivanec (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sam Malone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Miroslav Krivanec!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Malone gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Krivanec is trying to drag Malone to the mat but Malone just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Krivanec has had enough of the clinch but Malone keeps him there for the moment.
Malone prevents the takedown attempt.

Malone escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Krivanec doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Malone counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Malone.
Sam Malone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miroslav Krivanec.

Krivanec looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Malone is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Malone cracks Krivanec with a solid left hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Malone chips away with some ground and pound.
Malone has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Malone distracts Krivanec with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Malone cracks Krivanec with a solid left hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Malone postures up and lands a big shot to Krivanec's brow.
Malone trying to control the position from guard on top but Krivanec is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Malone's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Malone thows a big elbow that misses.

Krivanec had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Malone defends it easily.
Malone stays in close to Krivanec's body and controls the position.

Krivanec escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Malone gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Malone landing some decent shots from guard.
Malone wants to control from the top but Krivanec keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Malone accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Malone pushes down on Krivanec's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Malone working over Krivanec with some ground and pound. Krivanec looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Krivanec has hold of Malone's hands but Malone slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Malone is keen to just control but Krivanec is a slippery customer.
Malone drops an elbow to the side of Krivanec's head.

Krivanec looking for submissions off his back.
Malone wants to take a breather but Krivanec is having none of it.
Krivanec has hold of Malone's hands but Malone slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Malone lands with a punch from half guard.
Krivanec misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Malone wants to lay and pray for a moment but Krivanec keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Malone looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Malone scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Malone working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Nice strikes from Malone there.

Malone is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Krivanec is just riding it out for now. Malone eventually gives up the hold.
Malone wants to control but Krivanec is keeping him busy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Krivanec can do anything to dispel that myth.

Malone looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Ground and pound from Malone.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Malone passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Krivanec!

Malone throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Krivanec has his hands clasped together but Malone breaks the hold and Krivanec is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Malone!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sam Malone!
