PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between eddy G (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nati Kuperman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nati Kuperman told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, eddy G!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nati Kuperman!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Dean Styles and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
G shoots in looking for a takedown. Kuperman tries to sprawl out of it but G keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kuperman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kuperman tries to clinch there but G circles away.
G fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

G feints and as Kuperman raises his hands in defense, G changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kuperman has his hands on G's head, controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
G controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Kuperman tries to strike from the bottom.
Kuperman keeping moving, preventing G from controlling successfully.
Kuperman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
G is looking to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
G trying to control from the bottom.
G wants to get back to his feet.

Kuperman is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. G doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kuperman.
G trying to control but Kuperman postures up.
G is pressing down on Kuperman's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
G wants to sweep here but Kuperman controlling him for the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and G counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kuperman's guard now.

Kuperman looking for a guillotine here but G defends easily.

Kuperman had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. G is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kuperman Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take G's back instead.

You can see the frustration on G's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

G tries to escape but Kuperman has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Kuperman keeps control of the position easily here as G tries to buck him off.
G is trying to break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kuperman is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. G is defending well though. Kuperman let's go of the attempt for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
G trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
G is trying to break free.
G controlling his opponent's hands, preventing the submission attempt.
Kuperman gets his hands free as G looks to control.

Kuperman looking for the RNC.
G trying to control the hands but Kuperman won't let him.

Kuperman looking for the choke but no joy.

G has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Kuperman has both hooks in and is working for a choke. G is in real trouble here. Kuperman gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, G is tapping out! Kuperman wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Nati Kuperman!
