PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Corwin Anstey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sanitha Muralitharan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anstey comes to the cage accompanied by remember the name. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Corwin Anstey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sanitha Muralitharan!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Anstey gets the takedown into side control.
Muralitharan tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Muralitharan is trying to escape the position but Anstey is controlling the position.
Muralitharan tries to buck Anstey off but Anstey is having none of it.

Anstey stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Anstey shoots for a double leg takedown but Muralitharan sprawls well. He's pushed Anstey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Anstey gets a takedown into half guard.
Muralitharan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Anstey stops Muralitharan from getting back to his feet.

Anstey postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Muralitharan to stand up.
Muralitharan thuds his right hand into Anstey's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The crowd cheers as Muralitharan lands an impressive looking overhand right. Anstey doesn't seem phased though.

Anstey closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Anstey is breathing heavily.
Muralitharan is trying to improve his position.
Muralitharan manages to work his way to half guard, despite Anstey's best efforts.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Muralitharan had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Anstey is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Muralitharan Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Anstey's back instead.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Anstey is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Muralitharan gets his way!
You can see the frustration on Anstey's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Muralitharan is working for a rear naked choke. Anstey is not defending it well and Muralitharan has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Anstey refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Anstey's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
