PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Mclovin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan comes to the cage accompanied by Girlfriend. Mclovin has chosen Sandstorm by Darude as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fedor Mclovin!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Alexandre Firmino and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan connects with a leg kick. Mclovin looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Ryan tries to clinch up
and Mclovin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Ryan closes the distance but Mclovin moves to the side
and Ryan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Mclovin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ryan swivels and escapes.

Ryan throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

and Mclovin counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

and Mclovin counters with a head kick. That will keep Ryan thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Mclovin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ryan is just riding it out for now. Mclovin eventually gives up the hold.
Mclovin thows a huge punch but Ryan dodges it nicely.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mclovin trying to mount his opponent but Ryan defends it.
Mclovin not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Ryan is looking to control Mclovin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ryan avoid being mounted?

Mclovin is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Ryan still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Ryan has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Mclovin wants to control but Ryan postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Ryan wants to clinch

and Mclovin counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ryan!
Ryan keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Mclovin goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Ryan turns into him and now he's in Mclovin's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mclovin is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Ryan steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Mclovin. That one must have hurt.

Ryan tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Mclovin counters with a stiff right hand.
Mclovin misses with a double jab
and Ryan counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Mclovin thinking.
Ryan on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

and Mclovin counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ryan!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mclovin is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Ryan has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Ryan!
Mclovin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ryan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mclovin, up you get!

Mclovin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ryan circles away.

and Mclovin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Fedor Mclovin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
