PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kenshin Say (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bors Harper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harper has chosen Get Yourself High- Chemical Brothers feat k-os as his entrance music. Kenshin Say looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harper gets caught flat footed, as Say shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Harper working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Say doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Say manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Harper is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Say is looking for a sweep. Harper is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Harper seems to be working for a kimura but Say defends the submission attempt.

Harper postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Harper has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Say bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Harper is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Say has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Say sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Harper's guard.

Say darts in and clinches Harper up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Harper drops down looking for an ankle pick but Say pulls his leg out and moves away.

Say shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Harper makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Harper.
Harper will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Say drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Harper dives on top into guard.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Say wants to stand and escape but Harper is having none of it.

Say has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Harper can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Say is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Say tries to pull guard but Harper holds him up against the cage and eventually Say drops back down to his feet.

Bors Harper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A head kick misses from Say.
Harper shoots in for a double leg but Say sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Say wants to clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Harper tries to close the distance and clinch but Say swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Harper.
Kenshin Say has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bors Harper.

Harper misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Harper sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Say shoots in and bounces Harper off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Harper is looking for a triangle but Say pushes his legs off easily.

Say is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Say stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Harper to get to his feet.
Say throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Harper on the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
