PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Traktor Chain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anders Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Angel kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Anders Anderson acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Traktor Chain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anders Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksandr Martynov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chain with a poor takedown
and Anderson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Chain shoots and misses
and Anderson counters with a nice uppercut.
Anderson circles away from the clinch attempt
and Anderson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Anderson doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Chain counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Chain has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Anderson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Traktor Chain. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Anderson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Chain gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Chain jumps guard and drags Anderson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anderson chips away with some ground and pound.
Chain on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Chain tries to get out of the position.

Anderson gets to his feet - Chain follows without any prompting.

Chain looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Anderson!
Anderson flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Chain looking to take Anderson's back but Anderson rolls and after a scramble, Anderson ends up on top in guard. Nice escape there from Anderson to escape a tricky position.
Anderson looking to sit in guard and control but Chain gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Anderson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Anderson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Anderson is looking to sweep but instead, Chain has passed into half guard.
Chain is looking to advance position but Anderson won't allow it.

Chain gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Chain shoots and misses

so Anderson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Anderson looks gassed!

Chain working a defensive guard here.
Chain throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chain working for submissions but it's allowed Anderson to get to half guard.
Anderson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Anderson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Anderson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chain keeps working.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Anderson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Chain gets back to full guard.
Anderson controlling from the top position.
Chain controls Anderson momentarily but Anderson frees himself.
Anderson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Anders Anderson.
Anderson tries for a takedown but Chain circles away easily

and Chain counters with a takedown into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Chain working away.

Chain looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Traktor Chain will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chain.
Chain closes the distance looking to clinch

and Anderson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Anderson.
Anderson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Anderson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Chain's guard.

Chain is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Anderson defends well.

Chain pushes Anderson off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Anderson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Chain counters with a takedown into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Chain is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Anderson has escaped the position, nice work there.

Chain swings around for an armbar but Anderson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Chain's guard.

Chain had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Anderson defends it easily.

Chain is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Anderson is aware though and is defending well.

Chain has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Anderson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Chain is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Anderson is trying to stand up here but Chain is controlling him well.

Chain is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Anderson sees it coming and defends easily.
Chain is pressing down on Anderson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Anderson is holding on for now.
Chain throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Anderson is looking to escape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Chain is working for a kimura here but Anderson manages to reverse the position and he's now in Chain's guard.

Traktor Chain dominated that second round.
That's time! Chain's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Chain keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Chain turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Chain pushes Anderson up against the cage in a clinch.

Chain ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Chain no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Chain has his foot on Anderson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Anderson works his way back into a safe position though.
Anderson throws a big right hand that misses.
Anderson wants to control from the top but Chain keeps moving.

Anderson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Anderson prevents Chain from getting back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Anderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Chain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Anderson is pushing down on Chain's leg trying to pass to half guard. Chain is fighting to maintain full guard but Anderson has managed to sneak the leg through.
Chain lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.
Anderson controlling the pace.
Anderson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Chain's head.
Anderson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Chain is not content to let Anderson control the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Chain wants to control but Anderson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Chain wants to get back to full guard.
Anderson drops an elbow to the side of Chain's head.
Chain moves into full guard.
Anderson looking to pass the guard.
Chain controls Anderson momentarily but Anderson frees himself.
Anderson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Anderson throwing strikes from guard but Chain blocks nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chain wants to sweep here but Anderson controlling him for the moment.
Anderson is working Chain over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Anderson distracts Chain with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Anderson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Traktor Chain is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Traktor Chain overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Anderson won't allow Chain to sweep him here.
Anderson is looking to stand up but Chain won't let him.
Chain pulls Anderson in to control the position.

Anderson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Chain looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Chain looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Chain!
Chain taking a break here but Anderson is having none of it and regains half guard.
Anders Anderson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Chain is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Anderson has managed to free his arm - good work.

Chain is working for a kimura but Anderson is defending it quite comfortably.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Traktor Chain.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chain, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
