The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCartny throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Subbotin.

and Subbotin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

and McCartny counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Subbotin thinking.

McCartny shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Subbotin pinned against the cage. Subbotin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Subbotin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McCartny is just riding it out for now. Subbotin eventually gives up the hold.

Subbotin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McCartny sprawls well initially but Subbotin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Subbotin wants to take a breather but McCartny is having none of it.

McCartny has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Subbotin is working away from the top position though.
McCartny regains full guard. Nicely done.
Subbotin throws and elbow that misses. McCartny uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Subbotin's guard. Nice move by McCartny!
McCartny stands and throws Subbotin's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Subbotin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McCartny. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from McCartny.

and Subbotin counters with a single leg into guard. McCartny didn't expect that.
Subbotin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

McCartny turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Subbotin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

McCartny takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Subbotin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McCartny as he jumps to the side.
Subbotin takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Subbotin feints and as McCartny raises his hands in defense, Subbotin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
