The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
van Matterhorn tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Gleeson throws a body punch but van Matterhorn moves out of range.
van Matterhorn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Gleeson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Gleeson works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Gleeson wants to pass the guard but van Matterhorn is defending well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
van Matterhorn is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gleeson scores with a couple of nice shots.
Gleeson tries to pass to full mount but van Matterhorn defends it.
Gleeson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

It looks like Lorenzo van Matterhorn has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gleeson looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
van Matterhorn is bucking up trying to escape but Gleeson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

The cut above Lorenzo van Matterhorn's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
van Matterhorn is looking to get to half guard.
van Matterhorn is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Gleeson is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. van Matterhorn is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. van Matterhorn flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Gleeson anticipates the leg and manages to get behind van Matterhorn and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Gleeson slips an arm under van Matterhorn chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Gleeson has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Gleeson is squeezing on van Matterhorn like an anaconda would it's prey. van Matterhorn fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
