Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vernon Reid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frankie Boy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vernon Reid has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vernon Reid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Frankie Boy!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Konstantin Menshow and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reid misses with a lunging right hand
and Boy cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Boy slips a jab and a cross from Reid.
Reid throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Boy counters with a straight right hand.
Reid tries a head kick but it misses.
Boy will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Reid tries to close the distance and clinch up but Boy swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Reid misses with a right hand

and Boy counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Reid's guard now.

Boy drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Boy jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Reid is looking to stand up but Boy isn't so interested in that idea.

Boy drops back looking for a leg! Reid is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Reid manages to kick Boy off! Boy jumps back into Reid's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Boy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boy drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Reid dives on top into guard.
Boy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Boy looking for a sweep. Not yet Boy, not yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Boy is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Reid has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Boy is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Reid preventing the sweep.

Boy looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Reid has picked Boy up and slammed him! Boy can't keep hold of the triangle and Reid manages to pass to side control!
Boy manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Boy moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Boy wants to hit a switch here but Reid passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Boy there!
Boy is looking to get to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Boy tries to lock up and control but Reid gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Boy is looking to get to half guard.
Reid avoids the attempt from Boy to control.

Reid stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Reid tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Boy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frankie Boy dominated that round.
That's time! Reid's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Reid misses with a double jab

and Boy counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Boy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Boy is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Boy is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Reid has managed to free his arm - good work.
Boy wants to pass to mount but Reid is defending the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Boy is working for a submission of some sort.

Boy is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Boy is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Boy prevents Reid from standing back up.
Reid is refusing to be controlled, as Boy sits in half guard.

Boy is working for a submission of some sort.

Boy seems to be working for a kimura but Reid defends the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reid is trying to stand up here but Boy is controlling him well.

Boy is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Reid doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Boy.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Boy is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Reid is just riding it out for now. Boy eventually gives up the hold.

Frankie Boy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Reid scores with a one two! Boy had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
A head kick misses from Reid.
Boy keeps the fight on the outside.

Boy bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Boy is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Reid has escaped the position, nice work there.
Frankie Boy has got the better of the ground game so far.

Boy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Boy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Reid is trying to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Boy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Boy is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Reid is trying to escape and Boy transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Reid is forced to tap! Nice work there by Boy! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Frankie Boy!
