The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wes fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Wes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
BOOM! Wes connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Wes controlling from mount.
Wes lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Carter hang on?
Carter is trying to stand.
Carter in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wes looking for a guillotine from mount but Carter is having none of it.
Wes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wes tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Carter tries to buck Wes off but he can't manage it.

Wes controlling the position easily from mount.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Wild Wes just wasn't active enough.
Wes shoots in but no luck this time.

Carter moves into the clinch.
Carter misses with a knee strike.
Carter throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Wes blocks it with crossed arms.
Carter tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Carter with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Carter tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Carter throws a knee to the head but misses.
Carter looks gassed!

Carter is fighting off a takedown attempt but Wes is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Carter to the mat. Carter regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Wes stands and throws Carter's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Wes works to advance to full mount. Carter defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
