And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Abe Jefferson!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jefferson enables St pierre to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jefferson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Jefferson wants to sweep here but St pierre controlling him for the moment.
St pierre really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jefferson keeping moving, preventing St pierre from controlling successfully.
Jefferson is pulling down on St pierre's head. It's preventing any offense from St pierre, at least for the moment.

St pierre drops back looking for a leg! Jefferson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jefferson manages to kick St pierre off! St pierre jumps back into Jefferson's guard.
Jefferson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. St pierre manages to get himself to full guard.
Jefferson stands up over St pierre, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Jefferson trying to control the position from guard on top but St pierre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jefferson wants to pass the guard but St pierre is keeping the position.
Jefferson wants to control from the top but St pierre keeps moving.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Jefferson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Jefferson stands and throws St pierre's legs to the side, diving into side control.
St pierre is breathing heavily.
Jefferson works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Jefferson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Jefferson lands a nice forearm strike.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
St pierre is looking to regain half guard here but Jefferson keeps moving and retains side control.

Jefferson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by St pierre, who protects the arm well.
St pierre tries to improve position but can't.
Jefferson landing a few strikes.
Jefferson is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt St pierre will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Jefferson has worked his way into a potential kimura here. St pierre is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Jefferson yanks on the arm and St pierre is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Jefferson.
