The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ernst closes the distance but Ariullo moves to the side
and Ariullo counters with a stiff right hand.
Ariullo doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Ernst counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Ernst has the Thai plumb, controlling the head nicely. He loads up with a big knee to the head and Ariullo goes down! Ernst pounces into side control - this one could be over soon!

Ariullo is rocked!

It looks like Freddy Ariullo has been cut.
The referee asks Ernst politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ernst prefers to stall for the moment though.
Ariullo tries to buck Ernst off but Ernst is having none of it.

Paul Ernst has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Ariullo has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ernst is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Paul Ernst has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Freddy Ariullo.
Ariullo is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Ernst has Ariullo pressed against the cage. He pushes Ariullo back and as he springs towards him off the cage, Ernst throws a beautiful elbow that sends Ariullo crashing to the floor! Ernst piles on the pressure with more strikes! Ariullo is flailing away but he's not defending himself and the referee steps in to stop the fight!
