PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Falaris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bart Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Falaris kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Single Ladies - Brazilian Version. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Falaris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bart Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Russell Pearce and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin throws a chopping leg kick but Falaris manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Falaris, right into the meat.
Griffin walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.


It looks like Bart Griffin has been cut.
Griffin moves out of range as Falaris strikes.
Griffin moves out of range as Falaris throws a body kick.
Falaris throws a low kick but it's checked well by Griffin.
Griffin blocks a head kick by Falaris.
Falaris looks for the body kick but Griffin saw that one coming.
Falaris throws a head kick that misses.
Falaris throws a hook but Griffin avoids it easily.

Falaris really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Falaris tried to score with a low kick but Griffin checks it.

and Griffin makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Falaris scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Griffin doesn't seem bothered though.

Griffin takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Griffin has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Falaris.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Griffin misses with a head shot.
Griffin throwing strikes here but Falaris is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Griffin is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Falaris to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Falaris shrugs it off.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

and Falaris counters with a low kick, right behind Griffin 's knee.
Falaris tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Marcus Falaris is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That kick from Falaris tenderised Griffin's leg. Griffin is trying to keep his angry face on.

Falaris throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Griffin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Falaris won't be happy with that.

Falaris tries to kick Griffin off but Griffin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Griffin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Falaris swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Griffin is looking to work some ground and pound but Falaris has wrist control.
Falaris keeping moving, preventing Griffin from controlling successfully.

Griffin works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Griffin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Falaris does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Griffin wants to take a breather but Falaris is having none of it.
Griffin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Griffin seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Falaris fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Griffin manages to avoid it.

Griffin is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Falaris frees his head nicely. Oh but Griffin has switched to an armbar! Falaris is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
