Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrey Nazarov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Jon James has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andrey Nazarov!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Franklyn Lucas and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James looks to score with a jab to the body but Nazarov is just out of range.
James misses with a shot to the body
and Nazarov counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Nazarov misses with a hook to the body
and James counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
James throws a looping overhand right but Nazarov ducks down to avoid it.
Nazarov ducks under a wild hook from James.
A looping hook to the body misses from James. Nazarov does a little dance to reset his feet.
Nazarov misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nazarov fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. James looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Jon James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nazarov fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches James on the side of the head.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

James clobbers Nazarov with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
James lands the left hand.
James throws a hook to the side of Nazarov's head but Nazarov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
James misses with a wild combination.
James lands a head shot.
James rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Nazarov connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Horrible takedown by Nazarov or perhaps it was just good defense by James which made him look bad.

James throws a hook but Nazarov blocks it.
James misses with a hook
and Nazarov counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
James throws a left and a right that both miss
and James takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
James lands with an uppercut that bounces Nazarov off the cage and back into rage.
James throws a right hand that misses
and Nazarov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon James dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Nazarov shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nazarov showed some decent athleticism there.
Nazarov working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

James is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Nazarov is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

and Nazarov counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

and Nazarov counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in James's guard now.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nazarov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Nazarov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Andrey Nazarov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Nazarov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. James tries to avoid it but Nazarov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag James to the ground. James escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Nazarov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but James does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Andrey Nazarov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Nazarov has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
