Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Scott Kerr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shep Olsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott Kerr could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Shep Olsen's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scott Kerr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shep Olsen!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, John Roberts and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olsen gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling Kerr to counter with a crisp jab.
Olsen misses with a wild combination.
Kerr throws an overhand right that lands on Olsen's shoulder, as Olsen tries to avoid the shot.
Kerr scores with a push kick.
Olsen misses with an attempted mid kick.
Olsen staying out of range there.

Kerr shoots in and bounces Olsen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Olsen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Kerr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Olsen on the ground.
Kerr seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kerr has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Olsen is proving hard to escape from.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Scott Kerr.

Olsen seems a little lost for a moment, as Kerr dominates the positioning.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A combination from Kerr does no damage.

Kerr keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kerr tries to land a front kick but Olsen steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Olsen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kerr paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kerr lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Olsen circles away quickly and effectively.
Olsen ducks under a wild hook from Kerr.
Kerr throws a nice inside leg kick.
Olsen tries to clinch but Kerr moves away
and Kerr counters with a thumping low kick.
Kerr displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Olsen.
Scott Kerr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shep Olsen.
Kerr lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Kerr misses with a hook.

Kerr throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Olsen was covering up waiting for the punch and Kerr finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Olsen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Kerr wants to get up but he can't break Olsen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Kerr throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Olsen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Kerr. Olsen shrugs it off though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Olsen gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kerr to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Olsen can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kerr controls the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Kerr.
Kerr plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Olsen closes the distance looking to clinch
and Kerr makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Olsen really felt that one!

Kerr's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kerr buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kerr dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Olsen. That did some damage!
Kerr throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Olsen takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Olsen manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Olsen controls Kerr momentarily but Kerr frees himself.
Kerr engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Olsen is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kerr is aware though and is defending well.

Kerr gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Kerr with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Olsen is working for takedown but Kerr is calmly controlling the position for now.

Kerr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kerr misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Olsen.

Kerr is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Olsen looking for a sweep. Not yet Olsen, not yet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kerr is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Scott Kerr wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Olsen throws a leg kick

and Kerr counters by moving into the clinch.
Olsen misses with some punches.

Kerr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kerr shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Olsen but Olsen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Olsen fails in his attempt to clinch.
Olsen fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Kerr shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Olsen manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Olsen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Olsen trying to control the action but Kerr is working from the bottom.

Olsen wants to work for an arm triangle but Kerr is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Olsen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kerr does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Kerr keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Kerr pushes Olsen off looking to stand but Olsen dives back in and keeps control.
Olsen wants to control but Kerr is keeping him busy.
Olsen passes the guard and advances to mount!

Scott Kerr is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Olsen trying to control but he's not successful this time.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Scott Kerr.
Well Kerr has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
