PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charles Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Jonson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harrison kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is East London Rap - Wha we a bout . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Charles Harrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carl Jonson!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jonson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Harrison moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Harrison throws a right hand that misses

and Jonson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Harrison wants to control but Jonson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Harrison looking for submissions off his back.
Jonson tries to stand but can't do so whilst Harrison controls his leg.
Harrison is looking to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jonson slows the pace down in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Carl Jonson.
Harrison slips a jab and a cross from Jonson.
Harrison throws an off balance right hand
and Jonson counters with a straight right hand.


It looks like Charles Harrison has been cut.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jonson enables Harrison to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jonson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Harrison thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Jonson wriggles free and stands up.
Harrison throws a combination that misses

and Jonson counters with a shoot takedown. Harrison fights it but they end up in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Harrison being controlled here, momentarily.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Carl Jonson was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Jonson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jonson clinches up with Harrison and pushes him back against the cage.
Harrison is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Jonson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Harrison breaks the clinch.

Jonson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Harrison tries to buck Jonson off but Jonson is having none of it.
Harrison manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Harrison perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Harrison wants to free his trapped foot but Jonson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Harrison looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carl Jonson dominated that round.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Jonson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jonson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Harrison wants to control but Jonson is having none of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Carl Jonson.
Harrison gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Jonson counters with a left and a right that stings Harrison.


Harrison is rocked!

Harrison misses with a double jab

and Jonson counters by gaining double undehooks. He picks up Harrison and carries him across to his own corner. OH, that's a monster slam and Harrison is out cold! A brutal end to the fight and credit to Jonson for not following up with any more shots. He recognised that Harrison was out. Good sportsmanship.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Carl Jonson!
