The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Svensson forces Buckner back against the cage and clinches.

Svensson's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Buckner connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Svensson scrambles back to his feet.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Buckner and Svensson goes tumbling to the canvas! Buckner follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Buckner uses his free foot to push down on Svensson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Svensson.

Buckner is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Svensson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Svensson shrugs it off.

Buckner takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Buckner seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Buckner wants to pass the guard but Svensson is keeping the position.
Svensson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Buckner is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Buckner has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
