PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Aldin Arifi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Swick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arifi comes to the cage accompanied by Eminem - Not Afraid. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Swick!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, William Gold and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Arifi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Swick can do anything to dispel that myth.
Swick is wriggling around trying to escape.
Swick wants to control but Arifi is having none of it.
Swick is working to get back to half guard.
Arifi throwing strikes here but Swick is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That's time! Arifi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Arifi gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Swick to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Arifi pushes Swick off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Arifi feints and as Swick raises his hands in defense, Arifi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Swick wants to get back to his feet but Arifi is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Arifi closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Swick quickly recovers to half guard.

Swick is looking for a sweep. Arifi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

We're going to have a standup here because Aldin Arifi wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Arifi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
